A vibrator of gold!

Morning!

You might ponder about my headline today, yes? Well so did I actually. This morning as I stood in the freezing wind waiting for my buss, I became aware of an advertisment which game me a little “shock” to be honest. It was a huge poster with a long, slender vibrator in gold, with the headline, Happy Valentine! And this was an advertisment for our biggest shoppingmall here in Oslo, “Oslo City”.

At first I was almost embarased and looked away thinking, did anyone else see that? Of course they did! I bet everyone saw it! Humans are simple full of lust and desire so of course they looked at it. But as I got on my buss, and was finally able to take my eyes of the shining vibrator I started thinking about it and the purpose it served. What did the people behind the advertisment mean with this, what message did they wanna send us? Don’t we buy enough sex toys in Norway? Oh please, it cannot be that simple. Do they want us to have more sex? And if so, why post up a vibrator, which do not encourage couples to have sex, but more girls and women to have a little fun of their own. The headline was as I mentioned earlier, Happy Valentine. Do you think maybe they wanted to dirty our minds a bit, saying, look here! This is something your girlfriend really would like for Valentine!

Well personly I liked that type of advertisment, shocking, but it also raises a question, because I actually heard a little girl ask her father what that gold thing was, and believe it, he did not answer her. What would you tell your 7 or 8 year old if he or she asked what it was? Would you tell them, oh that’s a vibrator sweetie, a toy for adults, or would you lie and tell them something else? I’m not sure myself what I would have done, because I understood quite young the world of adults and sex, maybe to early I wonder somethimes, haha. But then again, I’ve never asked my parents about anything sexual, except that one time when  I was like 6 and asked my dad what porn was. Hahaha! I laugh at that memory now, and believe it or not, but he told me everything! He even told me about hardcore porn… to a girl, 6 years old.. Well like I said, I never had to ask my parents about anything again, although my mom was quite shocked when she walked in on me when I played with my Barbies and I told my her they were having sex because they liked porn and wanted a baby.. *sigh* I hadn’t learned to shut up yet, haha!

Anyway, to sum this up, does this advertisment raise some moral questions and what does advertisment like this do to us? Does this make us think more about sex than we already do? Is it ok with golden vibrators and sex toys all over town? Please let me hear some thoughs guys 🙂

Take care!
